On May 1st we said farewell to Arnie Marsden, who has retired from School Crossing Patrol Duty after 5 years outside Crompton House, and 7 years in Shaw. Before this Arnie worked as a compositor at the Evening Chronicle for 38 years. Arnie did a wonderful job and was much loved by all the pupils he guided safely across the road. The photos are from the school presentation to Arnie on his last day of work.
Until we get a replacement the duty has been carried out by members of the School Leadership Team. Although this has been quite time-consuming for the staff it was not a thankless task – quite the opposite – the pupils of Crompton House and the other local primary schools have been very polite with almost everyone giving a cheery greeting of word of thanks.
