On Friday 5th February Year 11, in two groups, had a half day of Revision and Study Skills at Oldham Athletic’s new Events Centre. The sessions started with a motivating talk by Mr Newell which was followed by a short coach ride to Boundary Park and straight into the first of four sessions run by pairs of Crompton House teachers. The core subjects of English, Maths and Science were covered together with Planning and Study Skills by our Lead Practitioners. In a survey completed after the sessions nearly 90% of the pupils rated the day Very Useful or Quite Useful. The Goody Bag the pupils were given rated nearly 95%! As one pupil wrote, “The day was brilliant and I learnt so much. Probably one of the best days of my whole time at school.” The venue was really good with the pupils giving it a suitability rating of 97%, and next year more rooms should be available which will give the pupils extra space in the sessions.
