On Thursday 14th June Molly Mooney, Arianne Makinson, Callum Lancaster and Cameron Hurst represented Crompton House at the 2018 Physics Olympics at Withington Girls’ School, ably led by Head Coach Dr. Whitworth.
During the day they designed and built a marble run with the aim of having the marble in motion through the track for the longest time. They also needed to find the densities of several objects and put them in order. They had to displace water to find the volume and use movements to calculate their masses as well as positioning some plane mirrors to create the longest path for a laser to follow and hit a target.
The students and Dr. Whitworth had a fantastic day. Well done to all!
