Having had our annual trip to Manchester Cathedral disrupted over the last couple of years, it was fantastic to get back to the Cathedral on Friday 14th January, both to rehearse in the amazing acoustics with the awesome Cathedral organ during the afternoon, and then to sing Evensong for the regular attendees, cathedral visitors and our families.
The Choir had worked hard over the last term to learn the pieces, particularly with intensive rehearsals since the start of term in January, learning Stanford’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis as well as Pitoni’s Cantate Domino.
The CHS Chapel Choir rehearses on a Friday afternoon after school, a fantastic tonic to a busy week of school work. It is a great opportunity to develop musical skills as well as singing a wide range of choral music.
Any school and Sixth Form students (and staff) are welcome to join Chapel Choir rehearsals – speak to Mrs Nixon or just come along on a Friday.
If you want to listen to the Chapel Choir’s Evensong, you can do so on the Manchester Cathedral Facebook Page.
