Thousands of lines, hundreds of hours, dozens of rehearsals, all leading to two incredible headline evening shows of Grease.
With capacity crowds in attendance, both nights had bigger audiences than any other previous productions and the performers made sure each and every one of them got a show stopping display.
From an insider’s viewpoint it was hugely impressive to watch as the cast and crew refined their skills and processes from the beginning of rehearsals to the condensed matinee performance for the CHS Trust Primary Schools to the two brilliant evening shows. The live band were flawless throughout the performances and ensured every song, scene and dance flowed with ease.
The set featured a replica ‘Greased Lightning’, scaffolded platforms, bleachers, an American Diner, and retro artwork to help set the scene and truly temporarily transport you to the Thunder Road!
The T-Birds and Pink Ladies framed much of the story with performances as strong as the American accents they managed to hold throughout the show. A special mention has to be made for the outfits featured in these groups, the team did a great job of visually creating each character.
From the rhythmic rush of ‘Born To Hand Jive’ to the solemn solo of ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ the broad and challenging performances were captivating and shone a light on the incredible work of the drama and music departments in creating a school stage show that could truly rival the big stage.
The huge ovations suggest so, but we really hope everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed the show as it means a lot to everyone involved to see so many happy faces watching their efforts. The teams who brought you Grease will be back towards the end of the academic year with another production that’s sure to be just as good and we look forward to welcoming you all back alongside hopefully even more!
Thank you again to everyone who attended, and to everybody responsible in any small part for putting the show on and helping to make it the excellent spectacle it was. Please enjoy flicking through the gallery of images below capturing some of the many highlights of the shows.
