Scholarship Programme
We offer students the opportunity to take part in The Scholars Programme. This is an academic programme run by The Brilliant Club. The Brilliance Club is an award-winning charity that mobilises the PhD community to support students to access the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there.
The Scholars Programme provides students from non-selective state schools the opportunity to work with a PhD researcher to experience university-style learning. It helps them to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to secure a place at a competitive university. The scholarship programme supports students to make an informed choice at 18 but also ensures they develop the skills needed to excel in their next phase of education.
What is The Scholars Programme?
- Students work with a university researcher in small groups to give them an experience of what it’s like to study at university. We call the researcher the students’ PhD Tutor.
- Students learn beyond the curriculum; PhD tutors will share their subject knowledge and passion for learning. This will stretch and challenge students as they develop their academic skills.
- At the end of the programme, students complete a final assignment of 2000 words. This is marked using the university grading system and allows students to show the progress they’ve made.
- On completion students attend a partner University for a graduation event.
