On Thursday 7th July at 6am, the Crompton House Brass Band assembled at school for a coach journey to Birmingham to perform at the National Festival of Music for Youth. The 35 pupils were just a small number of the 10,000 musicians who were taking part in the biggest youth music festival in the world, and they performed brilliantly! Under the direction of Mr Leedale, of the Oldham Music Services, with the Crompton House music teachers, Mrs Nixon and Miss Whittaker, the brass band have worked incredibly hard over the past six months and achieved a very high standard of musicianship. The pupils had great fun after their performance posing for photographs outside the Symphony Hall. Look out for particularly for our family group page. This is the seventeenth time a Crompton House School music group has been invited to play at this national festival since 2005. A fantastic achievement!
